Born and raised in Lexington Nebraska, Nate Lewis found his Lord and Savior at the age of nine at First Christian Church in Lexington. It was at that point that he knew there was nothing he could do to be in right relation with God because he had sinned and fallen short of and taken away from God's glory. Nate then knew that he must surrender his life to Jesus by placing his faith and trust in him. Jesus Christ has been his passion ever since.
As Nate grew older he developed a love for sports and in particular tennis. As he went into high school, Nate joined the Lexington High School tennis team. In the meantime, Nate also had a youth pastor who was training him in how to walk closer with God. As Nate graduated from high school he made the decision to attend Hastings College in Hastings Nebraska to go to school and continue to play tennis. As he went throughout his career at Hastings College the tension between his life athletically and his life with Christ began to grow. God began to use the game of tennis to conform Nate more and more into His likeness. Nate also began to be active in the local FCA huddle at Hastings College.
During Nate's junior year at Hastings College he met his beautiful wife Julie. It became obvious through the course of time that this was the one for Nate. Julie was also involved with FCA at Hastings College and played volleyball for the Broncos. Nate graduated from Hastings College in 2004 and worked at Wells Fargo for 2 years while Julie finished up school. Then God led Nate into ministry with FCA as he accepted the position as an Area Representative for the Western Nebraska Region in July of 2006. This was when the tension that had been created between his love for sports and his love for Christ was broken. His love for Christ began to motivate his love for sports and they meshed together perfectly along with a passion to see the world impacted for Jesus Christ through the influence of athletes and coaches. |
