| If you are around FCA in the state of Nebraska too long you will most likely here this phrase: "Doing Sports God's Way." This thought of "Doing Sports God's Way" is driven by a worldview that puts God and His Word at the very center of understanding the purpose of man. It is also driven by the mission of FCA which is "To present to athletes and coaches and all whom they influence the challenge and adventure of receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord serving Him in their relationships and in the fellowship of the church."
Doing Sports God's Way is done by training athletes, coaches, and all whom they inflence how to manage, advance, and possess all of the world's athletic activity for the kingdom of God with the goal of seeing every person redeemed by Jesus Christ and then conformed to His image.
There are four handles that give us a firm grip on what Doing Sports God's Way looks like:
- Truth - God defines Himself in His Word - the Bible explaining how every person can be redeemed by the sacrifice of Jesus on a cross for our sins. (John 14:6) This then becomes the truth upon which every Christian athlete should operate.
- Goal - God has one goal for everyone who comes to christ: to be conformed to Christ's image through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 8:28-29) As a Christian athlete this should be our ultimate goal that drives and motivates any other goal we might have in sports.
- Possess - God has called the FCA ministry to proactively repossess the sports world back to whom it belongs, Jesus Christ. We are to manage and advance the kingdom of God throughout the sports world. (2 Cor 10:3-6)
- Display - God loves to glorify Himself and continually sets up Christians to display His abilities, gifts, character, love, and grace through them in the midst of all circumstances good or bad. He longs to shine light through Christians in the midst of darkness. (Matthew 5:14-16)
