| On January 29th, former Husker and Professional Basketball Player, Brian Conklin was in North Platte at Adams Middle School for the Doing Sports God's Way Shooting Camp. God used huddle coaches Lynn Gifford and Bobbi Isom to organize over 100 fifth through eighth graders, volunteers, and coaches to flood the Adams Middle School gym for instruction on not only how to shoot a basketball but also what God has to do with them performing that act. The Gospel served as the foundation of both the kids shots and their life. They learned that their foundation is critical for them to have good balance to shoot the ball and that the rest of the shot flows out of that good foundation. Brian used this as a parable to teach the kids that with Jesus Christ as their foundation in their life that everything that is God Glorifying flows out of that foundation...even shooting a basketball. The kids also learned why they would want to glorify God with their life as they heard very clearly what God had done to pursue a relationship with them by sending His son to this earth to die for them because of the sin that they had committed in rebellion against God. They also learned that Jesus had victory over that sin that lead to death as He raised from the dead to give us hope and another chance at life if we would only believe in who He was and surrender our lives to His Lordship. And there was reason to rejoice as we left the Shooting Camp that night as 8 kids indicated on their response cards that they surrendered their life to Jesus. Praise God for how he uses even shooting a basketball to bring Him glory! |
