Favorite Bible Verse and Why:
Hebrews 12:2. “Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” What a reminder. Christ endured the cross for me, how could I not live for Him? But the punch of this verse is in the word joy. The God of everything finds joy in my life, because he created me and he yearns for me. He loves me, and me living for him on his earth brings him joy. Incredible.
Sports involved in:
I am in my fourth year of varsity golf and completed my third year of tennis, second on varsity, last fall. In 2007 I qualified for the state golf tournament.
Athletic Role Model and Why:
Tiger Woods not only because of his success but because of his incredible mentality that he is never out of a tournament and that no one is going to beat him. I also greatly respect his balance of professional and personal life and how they never seem to coincide. His priorities are always set. How has your life been impacted through the FCA?:
FCA makes you understand that not only is this battle against the realms of this dark world (Ephesians 6), but it also shows that the battle is going on everywhere, including the playing field. Satan never takes a break, and never should we because once our guard goes down, his attack becomes stronger. Share a tip that helps you be a Christ-like competitor:
The best encouragement for me comes in Romans, chapter 8, verses 38-39: “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, nothing can separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Be convinced of this before any competition. God doesn’t care how many points you score or how many strokes you take (in my case). His joy comes in you competing with everything you have because he gave you the abilities to do it. Nothing can separate you from his love. Understand that and convince yourself of it, because that is the only way you will get the most out of the talents God blessed you with.
